10 Twitter Do's & Don'ts

In case you haven’t heard Twitter is the hottest rage in Social Media at this moment. The following is a list of everything you should and shouldn’t be doing when using Twitter.

But first lets brush up on some basic Twitter verbiage and/or slang twitter slang terms. New twitter terms are continually being invented and added but here are a few to get you started.

Tweet – One message
Tweets – More than one message
Tweeting – What you are doing when you post your message
Peeps – Everyone in the Twitter community you follow
RT – Re-Tweet … The best gift you can give your fellow peeps

Do’s

1. Follow master peeps (who ever they are)
2. Post in bullet point fashion
3. Comment and Compliment fellow peeps
4. Post Value
5. Post a profile pic-(preferably youf smiling mug)
6. Post your website or blog URL in your bio/profile
7. Post fun, informative videos that can help someone else
8. Use tinyurl.com for those long URL’s
9. Post Twitter badges on your MySpace, Facebook & other social media sites
10. Use Gr8 for Great- w/ for with – 4 for for so on and so forth

Don’ts

1. Push your business (We don’t care)
2. Tell us peeps EVERY LITTLE DETAIL OF YOUR LIFE…UGH
3. Use product pics for your profile picture
4. Follow people who don’t tweet often
5. Dis (in any way) fellow peeps
6. Lie
7. Post mindless rambling tweet marathons
8. Use any 4 letter “potty mouth” words
9. Be boring
10. Ignore direct messages unless they are negative

In Twitter land everything you learned in Kindergarten still applies!
